About Dr. Ajay Shunmugarajan
Dr. Ajay Shunmugarajan, MD DM Cardiology, was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. His early education took him across various regions of Tamil Nadu before he pursued his undergraduate studies at Stanley Medical College, Chennai. Known for his exceptional academic abilities, Dr. Shunmugarajan excelled during his time at Stanley Medical College, topping his final year exams and securing five gold medals in competitive clinical examinations.
Following his undergraduate education, he continued his medical journey at PGIMER Chandigarh, one of India’s leading institutions, where he completed his MD in Internal Medicine. It was during this period that Dr. Shunmugarajan discovered his passion for cardiology. His aptitude in the field was further demonstrated when he topped the DM Cardiology entrance exams for both AIIMS Delhi and PGIMER Chandigarh. He chose to continue his training at PGIMER Chandigarh, valuing its robust clinical and hands-on approach over other opportunities that emphasized academics and research.
At PGIMER Chandigarh, Dr. Shunmugarajan once again showcased his excellence by achieving the highest aggregate score in his DM Cardiology exams over the past five years. His dedication to both clinical training and patient care reflects his commitment to advancing the field of cardiology.
